Privacy policy

Kol Avrohom shares the shiurim of HaRav Avrohom Karp ZT"L, on the website kolavrohom.com and in the Kol Avrohom app for Android and iPhone. We collect as little as possible. We don't show ads, we don't sell anyone's information, and we don't use cookies to track you.
Using the site or the app without an account
- Your learning stays on your device. Your place in each shiur, the dafim you've marked as learned, and your settings (speed, view, the daily reminder) are kept on your phone or in your browser. They are not sent to us.
- Shiurim you save offline are stored on your device and can be removed from the daf's page at any time.
- We don't use cookies unless you sign in (see below).
Statistics
To know how the shiurim are used, our own server keeps simple totals. Examples are how many people visited today, how many listened to a shiur, how far they listened, which masechtos are popular, and the type of device (phone or computer).
- To count each visitor once a day, the server makes a code from the IP address and browser type, mixed with a random value that changes every day. The previous day's codes and random value are deleted, so no one can be followed from one day to the next. IP addresses are not stored in the statistics.
- We also count the website that linked to us (just the site's name), your time zone, and, when available, your country.
- These totals stay on our server.
Google Analytics
To see how the website is used, our server also tells Google Analytics (a service of Google) about each page that is opened on the website. It sends:
- the page and its title;
- the website that linked to it, if any;
- the country and the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), and the browser's language;
- the same daily code as above, so a visitor is counted once a day.
It does not send your IP address. No Google code runs on our pages and no cookies are set. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). The app does not use Google Analytics.
Signing in (optional)
If you sign in, we keep:
- your email address, to send you a sign-in link;
- your learning progress, so it's the same on all your devices;
- a personal podcast link, if you ask for one.
Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in. To have your account and its data deleted, email us.
Messages you send us
If you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address and message by email, only to answer you.
Our server's records
Like every website, our web server keeps a short-term technical record of requests (IP address, the page asked for, the browser). It is used only to keep the site running and secure, and older records are deleted automatically.
The app
- The app downloads the shiurim and the Gemara pages from kolavrohom.com, and counts the same simple statistics as the website.
- Notifications: if you turn on the daily reminder, the app asks for permission to show notifications. The reminders are set up on your phone itself; we don't send them and don't know when you get them.
- The app doesn't ask for your location, contacts, photos or microphone.
Children
The site and app are for learning Torah and may be used by people of any age. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children; using them without signing in collects none.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page. For any question, or to ask us to delete your information, email [email protected].
